The Master and His Emissary

I wanted to challenge myself conceptually by illustrating and designing a full jacket for the nonfiction book The Master and His Emissary by Iain McGilchrist. The premise is that the two hemispheres of the brain have different ways of perceiving the world: the left is based on fragmentation and narrow focus, while the right is concerned with integration and the gestalt of what it sees. It’s a dense, thought-provoking book, and my goal was to communicate to the reader the conflict between the two hemispheres of the brain and how it shapes our world, giving visual emphasis to the fragmented perception of the left.
